Vidarbha have done it! The 2023-24 Ranji Trophy finalists have trumped Kerala to lift their 3rd title. Sachin Baby and co, who made it to their first-ever final in the tournament in over 70 years, were overwhelmed by Karun Nair & co, who took a lead of 37 runs. With the Ranji Trophy rules stating that if the final ends in a draw, then the team with more lead is declared the winner.

Vidarbha posted a 379-run total in their 1st innings after being out into bat first. Danish Malewar rose to the occasion on the biggest stage to slam a 153-run knock. Meanwhile, veteran Karun Nair narrowly missed out on a well-deserved century as he was sent packing for 86 runs. Edhen Apple Tom and Nidheesh finished with 3 wickets each. In reply, Kerala were bowled out for 342 runs, failing to take the lead. Harsh Dubey grabbed 3 wickets, along with Nalkande and Rekhade, to become the highest wicket-taker in a single Ranji season.

Vidarbha resumed their 2nd innings with a 35-run lead, an early indication that they were going to lift the Trophy. Once again, it was Karun Nair and Malewar who ensured that the side piled up more misery on Kerala. Nair, who went on to score a century, missed out on a 150, as he was dismissed for 135 on Day 5. Kerala attempted to rattle VID on the final day by picking 5 wickets, but in vain.
