While everyone expects the England tour to be a challenging one for India, there really are some major changes that the visitors are going through, in their Test team. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin have retired, and now the others have to surely step up. But then, England, or their skipper Ben Stokes isn’t ready to take them lightly.
India Ready Without Stalwarts
On the eve of the first Test, Stokes clarified that it won’t be easy to win against India. Addressing the media, he also spoke about the infinite talent in India, and even major threat Jasprit Bumrah.
Stokes started by saying, ” A lot is said about no Rohit, no Virat, no Ashwin. That doesn’t mean whoever will replace them will be easier to bowl or bat against. Three massive names, done wonderful things for the country.” For now, India have named Sai Sudharsan, Karun Nair as their successors, but it remains to be seen, how they turn up on the big stage.
Negating the Jasprit Bumrah Threat
Coming to Jasprit Bumrah, the man has been superb in the longest format in the last one year. He will of course be India’s main weapon against a strong-looking England batting, but then the hosts are not just focusing only on him. “Jasprit Bumrah is a fantastic bowler. He is going to be a threat but focusing on one individual is not what we are going to be doing,” he clarified.
Just for the record, the pacer has played 14 Tests vs England, where he has bagged 60 wickets at an average of only 22. IN England he has 37 wickets in 9 matches, which reveal the truth.
